Global Sources RFQ Translator ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
1. Local Storage Data
The extension stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- Translation engine preference (MyMemory, Google Translate, or LibreTranslate)
- Display mode settings ("both" or "translation-only")
- Target language preference
- Trial usage count (for free tier tracking)
- License key (if you purchase the premium version)
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2. RFQ Content
When you use the extension on a Global Sources RFQ page:
- The RFQ text content is extracted from the page
- This text is sent to third-party translation APIs (Google Translate, MyMemory, or LibreTranslate)
- The translated text is displayed on the page
We do not store, log, or transmit your RFQ content to our own servers.
Third-Party Services
The extension uses the following third-party translation services:
Google Translate API
MyMemory API
LibreTranslate API
- Provider: Various hosted instances
- Data sent: Text to be translated
- Privacy Policy: Depends on the instance used
Data We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do NOT collect:
- Your name, email, or any personal identification
- Browsing history outside of Global Sources RFQ pages
- Payment information (handled by ExtensionPay/Stripe)
- Any data from non-RFQ pages
Permissions Explanation
The extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab: To access the current tab's content for translation
- storage: To save your preferences locally
- Host permission for globalsources.com: To run on RFQ pages
- Host permission for translation APIs: To send text for translation
Data Security
- All data is stored locally in your browser
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- Translation requests are sent directly to third-party APIs via HTTPS

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
